Multi-talented Pharrell Williams cut the price on his Miami Beach penthouse back in February. The high-rise residence known as the “fishbowl”—thanks to its floor-to-ceiling glass—was slashed to $10.9 million early in 2014. But there isn’t a “happy” ending to this story—the listing was pulled in early November without a buyer. The music mogul may try to get in better tune with the market in 2015.

The purchase of a 16,000-square-foot gated estate in Hidden Hills, CA, by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West failed to break the Internet in September. However, the dynamic couple did manage to score a bargain—they purchased the home for $20 million, although the expensive (and expansive) French chateau originally listed for $21.5 million.

2014 was a banner year for super producer Dr. Dre, who’s also known now as multi-millionaire entrepreneur Andre Young. After Apple’s acquisition of Beats Electronics, the headphone company he co-founded, Dre just may be the richest rapper alive. He was also busy buying and selling in the housing market—in June, he bought a $40 million Los Angeles home from Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen. He put another luxurious home in the hills above L.A. up for sale in June for $35 million.

After avoiding the spotlight for a couple of years, actress Renee Zellweger appeared “different” when she appeared on the red carpet in October. While we aren’t experts on facial features, we can definitely appreciate the beauty of a fine home. In July, Zellweger listed this gorgeous Connecticut farmhouse on 36 acres. The home is still awaiting someone who’d like to alter their real estate portfolio—for a cool $1.6 million.

Late night star Jimmy Kimmel spent 2014 creating funny bits that people couldn’t resist clicking on. We also couldn’t resist clicking on photos of the Hollywood home he listed in August for $2.3 million. While the entire home is undoubtedly luxurious, we just had to feature a photo of the home’s spacious master bath. Some lucky buyer is now soaking in the humongous tub; the funnyman’s home sold in October for under asking at $2,178,500.

2014 was a year of reckoning for reality star Teresa Giudice. After striking a deal with prosecutors on several counts of fraud, the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star now faces 15 months in federal prison. Accommodations behind bars will surely lack the amenities of the opulent French chateau-style home she and husband Joe listed for sale in September. Still lingering on the market after a $500,000 price cut in November, the home—including its grandiose double staircases—can be yours for only $3.49 million.

Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard didn’t have any films unspool on the silver screen in 2014, but he did release this magnificent estate to an eager audience of real estate professionals. Straddling the border between New York and Connecticut, this custom lakefront compound listed for $27.5 million in May. At just over 17,000 square feet, it evokes the grandeur and majesty of classic East Coast estates.

Actress Sofia Vergara has racked up plenty of award nominations for her work on the popular sitcom “Modern Family.” In 2014, she also rose in the rankings of Forbes’ list of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.” Befitting that power and prestige, the stunning star spent $10.6 million on a beautiful Beverly Hills estate in April. She’s likely enjoying everything the spacious spread offers with her new leading man, hunky actor Joe Manganiello.

While its price may be humble compared to some of the heavy hitters on our list, this Mid-Century Modern gem put up for sale in October by power couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen delivers in design and look. Listed for $1.995 million, the swanky home built in 1961 and extensively remodeled since then will likely be off the market by the end of the year.

The year 2014 wasn’t a great one at the box office for Hollywood royalty Bruce Willis, but he did find modest success in real estate. The actor finally sold his beautiful Beverly Hills hacienda for $16.5 million in August. The price may seem nice, but Willis originally listed the 10,000-square-foot mansion for $22 million in the spring of 2013.
